Our original location is in Estacada, Oregon, and we do still have some animals there. Our Salem location is much larger, and this is where Lee resides with the majority of the dogs and the cats...and of course all of the other animals on the property. We currently have over 140 animals on our properties, including dogs, cats, birds, donkeys, llamas, alpacas, cows, horses, pigs, goats, sheep and even a ram.

Connections, and memories, led to a career and life change

But we are in the process of completing renovations to our new property in Salem, Oregon. Once everything is complete and all of our animals (including the livestock) are in one place, our vision is to have monthly tours for visitors, and we hope to offer volunteer opportunities.

Asher's videos of initial encounters with the animals are celebratory and he bubbles with excitement and sports a broad grin.
Nerito was rescued from an abusive situation with spinal injuries. Shortly after being rescued, he tested positive for parvovirus. Despite weighing barely two pounds, he fought the illness, and was nurtured back to health. The progress is slow, but promising and he needs a loving home to help him with the healing process.
Age 18 Months
All have since thrived in Asher's sanctuary, and whose stories he has told on social media as examples of what is possible when you "lead with love." What each animal does have, he said, is a distinct personality, its own idiosyncrasies and ability to return love — and he counsels people looking for a pet to invest their time before they spend their money. "Hate, aggression, is never the answer, not toward animals, not toward people. There is no success reached that way."
I’d love for the people who have started with me, go out on their own and run an Asher sanctuary. When I was around 5 or 6 years old, I was outside playing when I observed a cat enter a hole in a tree. Intrigued, I approached the tree and discovered a litter of tiny kittens. However, the mother cat, being protective, hissed at me, so I left the food nearby for them to access.
Around the age of 12, he said, he began visiting a Broward County animal shelter where he found consolation, and kinship, with the dogs and cats in the kennels. "Most people that run a sanctuary, or a rescue, do it for similar reasons," he said. "The difference is that I live with all the animals. I spend every single day with them. Even when I am out of town I bring them along. There's nowhere that I go where it's just me." The Asher House sanctuary is a sanctuary in the truest sense, a place where animals can find solace and healing. It offers a tranquil haven for a diverse array of animals, including majestic birds soaring through the sky, gentle deer grazing in the meadows, and playful otters frolicking in the waterways. With its sprawling acreage, Asher House provides ample space for animals to roam freely, explore their natural instincts, and forge meaningful connections with their fellow creatures.
As good as Lee is with dogs, he is not a professional dog trainer. We have even consulted with professional trainers and behaviorists when we have a particular issue or concern. International orders generally arrive within business days after shipping.
I used to very much think about the future of our organization because I always wanted to go from an RV to a sanctuary. And for the first time in my life, I’m very focused on the now. My plan is to grow this sanctuary to its fullest potential. I’m incredibly fortunate to have an amazing team of employees, and my hope is to elevate their expertise to a point where we can establish multiple Asher House sanctuaries.
Together, they embark on rescue missions, provide medical care and rehabilitation, and advocate for the protection of wildlife. Through these collaborative efforts, Asher House amplifies its impact, extending its reach to animals in need across a broader geographic area. Basically, after traveling the country to promote dog adoption and meeting with various shelters and rescues, Lee applied for his 501c3 nonprofit, which was approved in late 2020. Because of his large social media platform, the nonprofit received a lot of exposure, and for this Lee is very grateful. After his pit bull Stella passed away, he needed a break from being on the road and wanted to fulfill his lifelong dream of planting roots and founding a sanctuary.
Then, arrange to meet a person who works in the game development industry. It could be a game designer, programmer, artist, or someone in marketing. WHAT – Game Design Merit Badge will be led by subject matter experts at the New England Institute of Technology. By completing the requirements for this badge, scouts can develop skills in problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork, as well as gain a deeper appreciation for the art of game design. The Scout puts his newfound knowledge to use by designing a game and creating a design notebook for this project.
In his notebook, the Scout must demonstrate an initial concept, multiple design iterations based on initial testing, and feedback from blind testing. Once his concept is approved, the Scout can begin to build a prototype of his game. Testing of a Scout's game can be done at Scouting functions such as camp outings.

It was interesting to see how each game is different but they all have things that make them fun. Parents are required to check-in scouts and attend a short opening orientation. Discuss the key skills they emphasize to their students and why those skills are essential for making games. What I love most about my game is how engaged everyone was during their turn.
Energy & Natural Resources
You can create a board game, card game, or any other type of game. The Game Design merit badge relies heavily on specific terminology. Because game design is broad and game analysis is relatively young, there are few established definitions in the industry. Please refer to the glossary at the end of (the) pamphlet for definitions applicable to the pamphlet and requirements. For additional questions, refer to the merit badge website and the resources listed at the end of the pamphlet.
Experimenting with Game Rules
Group participation is mandatory to complete requirement 7, but all of the other nonproject requirements also work well in collaboration. Note, though, that each Scout must deliver his own game prototype to complete the project. This ensures that every Scout has the chance to develop and use the critical thinking skills that are part of testing and design iteration. If they want to collaborate on their projects after completing the requirements for the badge they are encouraged to do so, but that is beyond the scope of this badge.
When prototyping, Scouts should devote most of their energy to assessing and improving the play experience. With each iteration, Scouts should identify game elements that they want to change and how the changes will alter the play experience. After making changes, they then test the game and evaluate whether or not the changes had the desired outcome. It is acceptable for the final prototype to be very different from the initial concept, provided that the notebook shows the progression. If you choose this route, first get permission from your parent or guardian and approval from your counselor.

Get in the habit of doing something where you give back or better someone other than yourself. People get a scared sometimes because they think, “oh, I don’t have the money to donate.” Well, there are other avenues to give. Maybe he has a hard time making eye contact and runs to a corner when you come into the room. To see that dog be able to walk, accept affection and reciprocate it — that is what we’re supposed to do. Our sole focus should revolve around bettering the lives of animals. What I get in return from rescuing an animal is seeing them be happy.

After work, I would volunteer at a shelter, but I thought it wasn’t enough. People always said to me, if you want to help people and animals, make a lot of money. However, I wasn’t going to wait until I had a lot of money. My only intention was to do good and be a little bit better in every way, every day. Despite the bonds with shelter animals in his adolescence, by 2017 Asher was trying to make a go of a career in financial lending in Southern California. But the pull "to live this life with animals" grew too strong to ignore.

The meal's highlight was definitely the service, as our server was very attentive and gave many suggestions on what to order (we, admittedly, probably should've asked more questions about flavor here!). We had a long chat about the delicious-sounding dessert menu despite opting to miss it, and we found out that you can order desserts for takeout which is definitely on our list to try in the future.

The fish was cooked to juicy perfection, we just thought that the broth was also intensely sweet and, in our opinion, it overpowered the fish. We also weren't expecting the spinach, daikon, and carrots to be raw and served as a sort of salad in the broth. The weekend brunch menu features items such as lemon meringue pancakes, cinnamon sugar French toast sticks and crème brulee waffles.
